Visions of a traveling gypsy on a carousel-type bird with a paper folding creation floated through my mind! “Ming – Origami Gypsy” was born!

Ming is the rider, which is a posable figure. She is costumed in Chinese and Dupioni Silks. Embellished with hand beading and velvet trim. Her hair is wigged from human hair. Her head is cloth and needle sculpted.

Her carousel-bird is made from clay formed from a handmade armature and embellished with Swarovski crystals. The bird’s breastplate, crest, and tail are hand-beaded panels with Japanese beads, Swarovski crystals, and vintage beads, as well as trimmed in Peacock feathers.

This is a one-of-a-kind hand made figurative piece measuring 24” x 12”
Approximate time involved 400 hours
